India Orphan Ministry: Meet Winston and Diane Scott

Happy New Year to sponsors, partners, and those who follow news about the New Hope for Children Orphanages in India!

I would like to introduce you to Diane and Winston Scott, who live in Connecticut,

USA.  (Photo is from one of their first mission trips to India.)

Diane and Winston felt God's call to help Pastor George Fernandes with his ministry when they first visited India a couple of years ago. They learned about Helping Hands India and New Hope Orphanages through their daughter Hannah, who served as a volunteer there for about five months.

Our plan is that a new 501(c)(3) organization established by the Scotts will become the official international partner for Pastor George and Helping Hands India. The new organization, Helping Hands India International, has taken responsibility for the Helping Hands India website, and you will find more information about their mission here: www.HelpingHandsIndia.org . The website is still under construction.

Does this mean that sponsors and partners with New Hope for Children Orphanages will have to change anything?  No, you can continue your child sponsorship through Big Family Mission. We expect that new sponsorships will soon begin to be processed through HHI International.

I (Ken) will continue to help with the orphan ministry in India as we go through the transition... and after that as the Lord leads.

Let's build a new orphanage home in remote tribal village!

Current orphanage home in remote tribal village near Bhadrachalam has major problems during heavy rains of the monsoon season.  Snakes, living in the grass roof, help control the rats which also frequently find their home there.

   Land has been provided, and Pastor George and team are now ready to begin building a new orphanage home in a remote tribal village near Bhadrachalam! (see plan for the new building below)
   A matching grant of $12,500 will match all donations made before the end of 2013.  The total cost for constructing the orphanage is $25,000, so that means if we can raise $12,500 before end of the year, the orphanage will be completely paid for!  Will you please consider helping with this orphanage building project?

Gourawa Needs a Sponsor!

My name is Gouravva. I am 6 years old and my birthday is June 02, 2008. I am studying in kindergarten.  I lost both of my parents and now my uncle is taking care of us. I have two older brothers, two older sisters and one younger brother. My uncle is  is working as a daily labor. He is facing a lot of family problems. I was very small when I lost my parents.  I thought I lost everything without my parents but after coming to New Hope Children Community Center I could see the changes in my life. God is blessing me with many things and I love to be here with my other friends. I love to play sports and my ambition is to become a doctor. I am in need of a sponsor.

Funds needed now to pay next year's school fees for orphans!

We have just heard from Pastor George that he does not have sufficient funds to pay school fees for the upcoming school year.  He has been able to raise about half the funds in India.About $12,500 is still needed to pay for tuition, books, school fees.  Fees are due Aug 1.  

Most of the children at New Hope for Children orphanages have lost one or both parents... and have been abandoned. If one of our orphans is sponsored, a portion of the sponsorship donation helps provide tuition fees and cost of books for the child. However, not all the children have sponsors.
  
Without New Hope, these children would be begging on the streets of India. In addition to providing food, clothing, and a loving home environment, New Hope helps assure that the children receive an excellent education. Approximately $180 can pay the school fees and provide books for a child who is not sponsored and would otherwise have no opportunity to go to school. Your donation of any size will be very much appreciated! 100% of your donation for our scholarship fund goes to India to provide education for these special children!

Giving Tuesday

So what exactly is GivingTuesday?

In November, we celebrate Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and now we are also celebrating GivingTuesday, the day after Cyber Monday.

It’s about bringing people together and encouraging them to give something more in a time where people can easily lose sight of what really matters. After the crazy shopping days following Thanksgiving, GivingTuesday is an opportunity to take a day to refocus our hearts on spreading love and joy during this time of year. 

 How can you Participate?

You can participate by making a donation to our unsponsored children fund. At New Hope Children's Home, 24 children have yet to find sponsors. While the other children are enjoying letters and Christmas greetings and gifts from their sponsors, the un-sponosred children can start to feel a little left out. 

As a GivingTuesday supporter, there are several ways you can help:

1. Pray for the unsponsored children to find sponsors! Prayer is incredibly powerful and your prayers can help God bring sponsors to our waiting children.

2. Write letters to the unsponsored children. It can be a very lonely feeling to see all your "brothers and sisters" receiving letters from their sponsors when you don't have one. Help a child feel the same love by writing to them! Tell them you are praying for them, and that you care about them. The impact is greater than you could imagine! To be a letter writer, please email your letter to bigfamilymission@gmail.com .

3. Make a donation to the Unsponsored Child Fund! Donations to the Unsponsored Child Fund help care for the needs of all the children who have yet to find sponsors. Without these donations, New Hope Children's Home would not be able to provide a safe and loving home to the 24 orphans who have not yet been sponsored.

Nikhil was abandoned by his father - Please support him!

"My name is Nikhil. I am 8 years old and my birthday is September 6, 2005. I am studying in 2nd grade. I love to play cricket and I want to be a doctor when I grow up. I have one sister and one brother. My father abandoned my family and left us to be looked after by my mother. My mother didn’t want to work to support us so she sought out a place for us to stay. Share your love and Christ's love with orphans this Christmas!

Pastor George distributes gift bags at last year's Christmas celebration

Join with us to share the miracle of Christ’s birthday in 4 India orphanages!

We invite sponsors, partners, and all those interested in orphan ministry to make a donation to help us buy Christmas gifts for our 136 children at four Christian orphanages under the direction of Pastor George Fernandes.

Your gift of $25 will provide a Christmas gift bag and Christmas celebration for one child.  

This year’s gift bag will include new clothing; underclothing; personal grooming items such as soap, tooth brush, bathing sponge, and comb; a ball; pencils, pens, and eraser; animal toys; toy car; crayons; handkerchief; puzzle cards; and of course… candies!

We still have about 40 children who do not have sponsors. 

Therefore, if you are able to send a donation to help buy gifts for un-sponsored children and children of caretakers, that will bless us greatly!

We will receive donations for Christmas during the month of November, and send the funds to India early in December.

"My name is G. Aarasan. I am 9 years old and studying in 6th grade. My parent's earnings as daily laborers is hardly sufficient to support the family.
